Brittney Roughan
PhD Candidate
Brittney is pursuing a PhD in Applied Science at Saint Mary’s University under the supervision of Dr. Danika van Proosdij in the Department of Geography and Dr. Lisa Kellman at St. Francis Xavier University. During her MSc at St. FX, she investigated the biogeochemical controls of nitrous oxide emissions in Prince Edward Island salt marshes. Building on this experience, her PhD project explores the underlying biogeochemical processes that lead to viable, long-term Blue Carbon sinks in restored salt marshes along the Bay of Fundy.
