Dr. Umme Kulsum (she/her)

Postdoctoral Fellow

Dr. Kulsum is a Postdoctoral Fellow leading the Adaptation Pathways for Dykelands Resilience (APDR) project, in partnership with CLIMAtlantic.

Previously, Dr. Kulsum held an Ocean Frontier Institute Postdoctoral Research Fellowship at Memorial University of Newfoundland. Her work developed a foresighting framework to envision scenarios and co-develop adaptation pathways.

She earned her PhD from Delft University of Technology, The Netherlands, where she explored adaptive management methodologies to analyse community livelihood adaptation.

As a climate change risk management expert with FAO Bangladesh, she supported climate-resilient fisheries and aquaculture through risk assessments, adaptation planning, and training

Originally from Khulna, a coastal city in Bangladesh, she completed her BSc and MSc in Environmental Science at Khulna University. Her teaching and research interests span scenario-based adaptive planning in environmental management, coastal community resilience and social-ecological systems
